A Recap of My Surreal Experience with Palaye Royale, The Strive, Chucky Hugh

What a month. What a time to finally write another post. I went to a concert the day before Halloween at Planet Trog in Whitehall. It was beautiful--I still have a sort of high from it. The venue was super-small and I met a really cute girl in line and a bunch of bands. Especially the one I wanted to see the most. Palaye Royale was the band--brothers Remington, Sebastian, and Emerson. Self-described as a "fashion-art rock band," they seamlessly blend the style of classic rock like the Rolling Stones with the energy of more modern bands like My Chemical Romance, while donning fashions straight from the 70s and 80s.  Sebastian with his signature Gretsch guitar. I have an embarrassing crush on the drummer, Emerson. He was the first one to see me as he walked around the venue--he saw my Palaye Royale shirt, smiled and gave me a hug, and said, "Oh, hi there, I love your shirt!" Then he saw me again a couple minutes later and hugged me again and just shoo

Life at DeSales University (So Far)

Haven't updated in a while. Why? I am officially in college, a freshman at DeSales University. I am having a great time here. So far, the classes are manageable--though some, I must confess, are a little on the boring side, but that's to be expected. It is nothing that I cannot handle. I have an awesome roommate and two great suitemates who love to walk in and out as they please. I say that last part with love, because they are so social and wonderful, and it's great to have them as my friends. Seriously, no matter where I go, someone either is holding the door open for many students, or I'm holding the door open and they always say, "Thank you." Kindness, it seems, is a common characteristic of a DeSales student. One thing that I had heard about college is that the workloa

Graduation and the Start of Summer

So about a week ago, I graduated from high school. It was rather surreal, because I didn't think that something like this could happen to me, but it did.  Walking toward the football field where the ceremony was held on that hot, late Wednesday afternoon felt like a dream. I even told my sister, "I still don't think this whole 'graduation' thing is going to hit me until I'm driving over to DeSales University for orientation. Then it's going to slap me in the face and I'll realize, 'My God, I've actually graduated.'"  She just looked at me and laughed and said, "Yeah, that's probably going to happen when I walk into my dorm room." Even at my graduation party, I still thought I was going to go back to high school once the summer was over. And though I know that won't be true at all, it still feels odd thinking about leaving all of my old friends behind as they either go off to college or into the workforce. I'
